Dakshinamurti is one of the name of lord shiva, indicates about the south facing posture of lord shiva. Lord shiva is a great yogi and master of all yoga’s meant for life hence also known as true preceptor of life.
Though lord is omnipresent and visualize the all three sphere at a time in a glace but to a time it was taken that lord as teacher teaches the great sages of time and era about the all mystic modes of this universe from a stage under the banyan tree facing south, where as sages while listening the teaching facing north, the very face of lord at that instance.
The very form of Dakshinamurti is to dispel the dark of ignorance hence to bring cheerfulness to life.
This form of very deity has four arms, two upper which holds the aksamala or other divine merit; the lower two symbolizing teaching and blessings.
The very murti reflects peacefulness and quietness the prime requirement to graduate the mind to interact with life in true pace.
Dakshinamurti is also considered very auspicious and wish yielding tree while one tacks the hard mode of life either due to planetary transit or else to have relief in life.
