the auspicious and Benign Guru

Jai Sri Ganesha,
He in whom this universe, prior to its projection, was potentially present like a tree in a seed,

And by whom it was wrought to its multiform by the magic, as it were, of His own will or in the manner of a great Yogi out of his own power,

He, by whose light the universe, which is unreal, appears as almost real,

And who graciously teaches the truth of Brahmans to disciples,

Who is realized through the comprehension of the meaning of the great Vedic Statement,

Which Realization alone put an end to the cycle of Birth and ReBirth,

To That Shiva,

To that Supreme Being, embodied in the auspicious and Benign Guru,

I Offer my Profound Salutation,

The lord Shiva

The lord Shiva, who is both with and without qualities, the one without second, who is bliss itself, the unconquerable, who is both with and without parts or phases and who is supreme self; I pray for his mercy with joined palms.

The Lord Shiva, who is lord of Kashi the core centre of this universe, image of that Kashi may be visualized in the form of Varanasi, the one who is master of all the 10 sides with five faces to interface the five prime subject unto self, is alike the lion destroying the mad elephant of sin, the Garuda killer of snakes, destroying the vicious demons the wild fire that burns to ashes the forest of birth and rebirth, I pray for his mercy with joined palms.

The lord Shiva, who is beyond the orbit o speech, repository of various attributes, whose lotus feet are worshiped by Brahma, Vishnu and other gods and who is loving spouse of divine power Gauri, the mother of this universe; I pray for his mercy with joined palms.
