It was on this day that Holika, the sister of demon king Hiranyakasipu, who tried to kill child-devotee Prahalada by taking him on her lap and sitting on a pyre of wood which was set fire, was herself reduced to ashes, while Prahalada was unscathed,

This festival indicate very simple message of Lord that he care for his devotees,
